East Riding of Yorkshire Council have just announced a 3.8% increase in Council Tax for the 2007/8 tax year. This compares with the annual inflation figure of 2.7%
The local Market Weighton Town Council precept however will not see an increase this year. Town Mayor, Stephen King, said,"We think it's really good news for the tax paying people of Market Weighton. The precept did actually go up by £2,500 but the increase that each household will pay will be zero because of the amount of new houses in the town".
