The Kiplingcotes Derby took place on Thursday 15th March, when a large crowd watched as 17 riders competed for the honour of winning the 488th race. This year's race was held in fine weather, with a cold wind and occasional sunshine, a refreshing change from the inclement weather of some previous races.
Many new names appeared on the race card along with some familiar ones. The race was well won by newcomer Liz Stubbins from Thornton, near Pocklington, on her mount Charlie. Stephen Crawford came in second on Flossy and Catherine Bell was placed third on Boris.
