At a meeting of the newly elected town council on 9th May 2007 Cllr Marion Frith was elected as Mayor for the forthcoming council year 2007/8. Martha Hanson was elected as Deputy Mayor.
Cllr Stephen King, who has served 17 years in total as mayor did not stand for election.
