Londesborough Arms to be partly converted into flats
Following an earlier planning decision to refuse planning permission to convert part of the Londesborough Arms into 8 flats, the decision has been overturned following an appeal by the owners, Bagdale Hall Hotels.
After many months of indecision the future of Market Weighton's only hotel the Londesborough Arms, a listed building, is scheduled to be converted into a ten bedroom hotel and 8 flats. Whilst there is mixed feelings in the town concerning the outcome, by local residents, the local council and the local Chamber of Trade, there is some consolation in the fact that at least the town will retail a hotel, if somewhat smaller than the original.
The planning approval stipulates that there must be no alteration to the external appearance of the building, and all refurbishments to the hotel must be completed before any conversion of the remaining building into flats.
